Helping Families

Playability is a registered charity that provides a unique service of respite care for families and carers of children and young people with severe learning disabilities. We run playschemes from 9.30 am – 3.30 pm during school holidays, using local community based venues, including Green Lane Special School.

There are opportunities for 5 to 19 year olds to explore, interact, grow, play, learn, get messy, socialise, experience new things and have fun. An opportunity they might find hard to get elsewhere. We tailor our activities to meet individuals’ needs wherever possible allowing children to develop their skills, confidence and friends.

Our services not only benefit the young person directly, they impact everyone in the family. It gives parents the time to spend with their other children or just a break from the demands of being a carer.

Membership Standards

Our service is quite straightforward and our systems and procedures are equally as open and straightforward. We have some simple standards that we would like our members to adhere to, these are documented in more detail in the policies and procedures document presented on membership.

Any potential members will be assessed before being accepted to access the services of Playability.

We hope you will agree these are quite simple and easy to adhere to. If at any stage of any process you require some additional help, the Playability team will happily help.
